Cherry Pie Jell-O - An Affair from the Heart

Cherry pie Jell-O Salad.  I don’t have anything like it on my site.  I don’t even think I have any other Jell-O Salads at all??  I have Jell-O Shots! Two Collections of them, actually! And a Chocolate Jell-O Pudding Frosting recipe that will rock your world.  But Jell-o Salad? Nope.  Well, except one.  This one.

^LOVE IT?  Pin IT!^

Why?  Well, I guess I should make it known that I am not a huge fan of Jell-o.  It’s okay in its plain form, but when those Jell-o salads start getting funky stuff like marshmallows, cool whip, fruit (brown bananas??) and even NUTS? in them… that’s when my nose has always turned up.  Of course, now I am surrounded by lots of talented foodie friends and I can’t believe how much more sophisticated Jell-O salads have gotten!

Cherry Pie Jell-O - An Affair from the Heart
My Aunt Carol is an awesome cook, and we take turns throughout the year having dinner at their house and at our house. I always look forward to her meals.  A few years ago, she made this Jell-O and I almost didn’t try it.  But I couldn’t hurt her feelings, and honestly… my kids are there, I always make sure they try EVERYTHING, so I have to set an example right?

So I did. And boy was I glad. So, here is where I start over.  I have never been a huge fan of Jell-O.  But I have ALWAYS been a huge fan of PIE! I especially love cherry pie.  Something about cherry pie filling is just so.darn.good. So, I am a new believer in Jell-O salads — But the brown banana kind? Still a big NO.

Yep.  Three ingredients, and one is water! It’s so super easy to make, and can I just tell you my favorite thing to make when I make a ham?  They pair together perfectly. With the holidays coming up, ham season is here,  And it’s red, so it’s festive. It’s again, easy, and it certainly won’t break the bank.

  1. You know I’m not a jello fan at all. (Even jello shots!) But if you say it’s good, I might just try it. Also I have that EXACT same dish and holder in black. Greg makes his rotel and velveeta in it. 🙂

  2. I love simple and easy, can’t wait to try this! I’m with you about all those other Jello Salads everyone makes, don’t touch them, I just move on to the rest of the wonderful food, frees up room on my plate, lol

  3. I may try this. I have always loved cherries, especially cherry pie, but have found the canned cherry pie filling usually way to sweet for me. Use to like it–way back when –ahem –but guess as I got (not I won’t say it) ‘more set in my says’ (better) I use less sugar in my baking now. So now use either fresh cherries when available or the plain canned variety. So worth a try on your say so.

  4. This just screams old fashioned simple deliciousness. Who doesn’t like dishes like these. My children would have loved this one. I’ll have to put it together for Thanksgiving when the kiddos are home.

  5. I love recipes that dont take a million ingredients! My sister is a huge cherry pie fan and this pie will be right up her alley! Since shes doing so much for thanksgiving this year Im going to surprise her and bring it for her to have all to herself the day after with the leftovers!
