Bratwurst Sliders on Pretzel Buns

These aren’t your average sliders. By using Frank’s new Mustard Kraut, we’ve added a zesty twist to the classic bratwurst. The combination of spicy bratwurst, tangy kraut, and sharp cheddar creates a flavor profile that’s both comforting and exciting. Plus, the pretzel buns add a delightful, slightly salty base that perfectly complements the other ingredients. And what goes better with soft pretzels than mustard and cheese?!

Frank’s Kraut

Sauerkraut has been a cornerstone of my family’s culinary tradition, deeply rooted in my Polish and German ancestry. Growing up, Frank’s Kraut was more than just a condiment – it was a fundamental part of our family meals. Holiday ham was never complete without smoked Polish sausage and a generous helping of Frank’s Kraut. Likewise, hot dogs and bratwursts seemed naked without their kraut companion.

Life has come full circle, and I’m incredibly grateful to have been working with Frank’s Kraut on recipe development for the past decade. As we enter 2025, I’m celebrating my tenth year as a brand ambassador, having created countless sauerkraut-inspired recipes that my long-time followers have come to know and love.

Frank’s Mustard Kraut

Recently, I’ve fallen head over heels for Frank’s Mustard Kraut. This innovative condiment has become a permanent resident in my refrigerator, and for good reason. During the peak of grilling season, it was my go-to topping, elevating every bite with its unique flavor profile.

What makes this mustard kraut special is its brilliant combination of Frank’s original sauerkraut with a zesty mustard and dill pickle twist. I discovered its perfect pairing almost immediately – it was a match made in culinary heaven with my Turkey Reuben and my Breaded Pork Cutlet recipe. The perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients for Bratwurst Sliders

  • Hawaiian Pretzel Bun Sliders: Soft, slightly salty base perfect for sliders. Can use regular slider buns or Hawaiian rolls if you prefer.
  • Bratwurst: Casings removed for easy patty formation. Can substitute with spicy bratwurst or even ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Adds a rich, tangy flavor. Try pepper jack for an extra kick or mild cheddar for less intensity.
  • Frank’s Mustard Kraut: Brings zesty, tangy flavor. Regular sauerkraut works too.
  • Butter or Mayo: for the top buns.

How to Make Bratwurst Sliders with Mustard Kraut

Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a 9×9 baking dish.

Form bratwurst into 9 patties and brown them in a large skillet over medium heat for about 7 minutes, flipping halfway through. Brats should reach an internal temperature of 160 degrees for safe eating. Place the patties on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess grease.

Assemble sliders by placing cheese on the bottom part of the pretzel rolls.

Top them with brat patties and mustard kraut.

Finally, add buttered (or mayonnaise-covered) top buns. Bake for 7-8 minutes until the cheese is melty and the buns are golden.

Refrigerate leftover sliders in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
