Jack & Coke Steaks! Yes, Sir!
.
It’s time for my June installment of the Secret Recipe Club. I have to tell you how tickled I was when I got my assignment! This is a blog I have literally drooled over for quite some time. I dove right in and started trying to decide what to make because trying to decide was going to be difficult! How do I pick one thing?
Amy’s Cooking Adventures is hosted by, you guessed it, Amy. Amy is a stay at home mom of two boys and I loved reading about her adventure into cooking and then blogging. Amy actually hosts two blogs, the other is called Amy’s Confectionery Adventures. Her recipes are all to.die.for.
The day I told myself that I HAD to chose JUST ONE, I narrowed it down to whatever I chose was going to be our dinner that night. So, that ruled out the Patriotic Minty Watermelon Sangria — but you can bet your buns I will be making that one VERY soon. I mean, if I really needed an excuse, the 4th of July is right around the corner, right? It also ruled out the glorious Blood Orange Tartlets . It seems as though narrowing it down to one recipe category “entrees” would help. Then all I had to do was decide between my top two, this Jack & Coke Steak recipe or the Sweet & Sticky Baked Chicken. The grill won, but don’t feel bad for that chicken, because trust me, we will meet again.
I am typically not one to marinade my steaks. Usually I just sprinkle them with a little salt and pepper and move on with my life. This marinade is seriously thebomb.com (do the kids still say that?) It’s got a perfect sweet/spicy pure awesomeness taste to it. I just can’t explain it… I will just have to just encourage YOU to try it yourself.
Carnivores Unite.
Basking in their delicious beauty.
How do you like your steak prepared? For us, this is a little rare. We like ours Medium, we have a few minutes left!
I served them with a side of Homemade {double fried} French Fries and a salad.
I copied Amy’s recipe exactly, except that I doubled it, to make four NY Strips instead of two. I marinaded them in a 9×13 baking dish covered tightly with foil, instead of the ziplock Amy suggests. I will share Amy’s recipe, if you need more meat, just do what I did, and double it up!
Enjoy!

Jack & Coke Steaks
Ingredients
- ½ cup Jack Daniel’s Bourbon
- 1 cup Coca Cola
- 1/3 cup lite soy sauce
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp hot sauce such as Frank’s
- 1/3 cup brown sugar packed
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 lbs New York Strip Steaks
Instructions
- Use a sharp knife to score the tops of the steaks in a grid pattern about ¼-inch deep.
- Whisk together all of the marinade ingredients. Place the marinade in a zipper bag with the steaks and massage to coat. Place the steaks in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight (or freeze and the steaks will marinate as they thaw).
- About 30 minutes before cooking, remove the steaks from the refrigerator to bring them closer to room temperature.
- Preheat an outdoor grill to medium heat and cook to desired temperature.

One of my favorites!! So glad you enjoyed the recipe!!!
Oh, this looks delicious! Such a kick to be assigned your blog right after you had my recipe last month. I had a wonderful time getting to know more about you and your blog. I still want to sneak those strawberry bars into the schedule before strawberries are all done for the year. Have a great week!
I don’t usually marinate my steaks, but, I think I need to try this. May just have to try this soon. Great choice for SRC.
Looks great! I’ll need to try this with the steaks I have in the freezer later this week. Great cooking with you this month!

This is such a great choice – it sounds awesome!
This sounds absolutely delicious! I love steaks on the grill and this marinade sounds like it takes a good steak and puts it over the top! Pinning!
Oh my gosh, I had Amy’s blog a couple months ago and TOTALLY wanted to make this! It was a little chilly to grill (I know, I know, it’s never too chilly to grill…), so I picked something else, but now I’m totally kicking myself, because these look great!!! Great choice.
Wow – what a great pick! I would love to be throwing one of these on the grill right now!!
Yes and please!
Okay, my husband would be in heaven with this!
Those steaks look fabulous. My husband is a big fan of Jack & Coke – I’m bookmarking this for his birthday dinner! 🙂
Steak is my favorite! This looks SO incredibly delicious! <3
Great recipe for Father’s Day or 4th of July! Visiting from SRC!
My husband is learning the grill, and I know we would both love the flavor combination going on here. Pinning this for him to try next weekend!
Kris, I would love to hear what you thought!!
Haven’t had a good steak in awhile, sounds great!
The flavor was so Devine, I didn’t have Jack Daniels so I substituted Jim Beam. I will definitely make it again! Served with fresh corn on the cob an chopped salad.
I’m so happy you liked them! I’ve subbed a different whisky, too! Sounds like a great summertime meal, Rimanda!
