What is a Simmer Pot?

A simmer pot, also known as a simmering potpourri, is a simple and natural way to freshen the air in your home by simmering a mixture of aromatic ingredients on the stovetop. Ingredients typically include a combination of herbs, spices, fruits, and sometimes essential oils. As the mixture simmers, it releases a fragrance that fills your living space, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.

Simmer pots are often used to evoke the scents of different seasons or holidays. The ingredients are placed in a pot, covered with water, and then simmered on low heat. The gentle heat allows the aromas to slowly waft through your home, providing a natural and chemical-free alternative to commercial air fresheners.

Simmer pots are not only a practical way to freshen the air but can also contribute to a sense of well-being by creating a connection to seasonal scents and traditions.
