Baked Strawberry Donuts made with real strawberries, then dunked in chocolate ganache, and covered in sprinkles. Valentine or Anytime, perfect!
Baked Chocolate Covered Strawberry Donuts. I mean, do I have your attention now? I don’t know about you, but I have never met a chocolate covered strawberry I didn’t like. Whenever I make them, I can’t keep my kids away from them long enough to fill the plate up for whatever function I am taking them to.
I imagined those favorite little chocolate covered berries into these gorgeous donuts. It all started with one of my favorite cakes in the whole world! This Strawberry Cake. I got the recipe from my friend, Candi, who blogs over at at The Devilish Dish. Her Grandmother Mary made this cake every Sunday for Sunday supper at her house when Candi was growing up. I made it a couple of years ago for Easter, and I have made it countless times since then.

It’s such a beautiful cake, and it’s seriously delicious. The cake starts with a box mix, you add in frozen strawberries and strawberry Jell-O. It’s frosted with strawberry frosting made also with frozen strawberries. It packs some serious strawberry punch, and looks so pretty dressed up for Valentine’s Day, don’t you think?

Even before Christmas, I start thinking about Valentine’s Day. One because Christmas is complete chaos and Valentine’s Day is my favorite!! I have lots of ideas for Valentine’s Day Recipes, we will see how many of them get made in time. This one though, I had to make them first! I am SO GLAD that I did!!
Ingredients for chocolate Covered Strawberry Donuts:
- white cake mix
- Strawberry Jell-O
- Frozen Strawberries
- oil, water
- chocolate chips
And of course you need a donut pan! If you don’t have one yet, I ordered mine on Amazon. It’s a Wilton brand, and I was so happy with it, I got a second one. annnnnnnnd I got mini ones, too. Because a girl can never have too many baking pans, can we?
Donut pan? You may be thinking, “How often would I even use a donut pan??” Well, let me show you all of the other baked donuts you can make with it! It’s money well spent!!
See? Get a donut pan!
After the strawberry donuts are baked up, cool them slightly, and then dunk them in my Chocolate Ganache. Chocolate ganache is one of those words that just makes my tummy happy! I could eat this stuff with a SPOON. It’s what makes my Chocolate Ganache Brownies a family (and reader!) favorite!
Before the ganache sets up, add some festive sprinkles! Leave the donuts in a cool place to set. If it’s particularly warm in your kitchen, pop them in the fridge.
Look at those strawberries in there! So delicious!
