Replace your typical chicken or beef in fried rice with Polska Kielbasa for a delicious flavor packed skillet meal that is ready in about 15 minutes.
The only thing that makes a skillet meal any better is when it tastes as good as this Kielbasa Fried Rice. My family couldn’t quit raving about it! We LOVE fried rice, and my go to Fried Rice Recipe has never failed me. Typically though, I use chicken or steak in it. I had a great idea to make it with our favorite Hillshire Farm® Beef Polska Kielbasa Sausage. I love when my bright ideas work out like this did!
Kielbasa Sausage is one of those things I always have on hand. It has rescued me when I was in a dinner crunch more times than I can count. One of my favorite meals as a kid, and my kids love it, too! It’s super versatile. Many times I just make it and we have it with buttered noodles and a vegetable. It’s a quick and easy meal for busy weeknights.
^LOVE IT? PIN IT!!^
With minimal mess and hardly any fuss, and this meal is on the table in less than 30 minutes, and there is only one pan to clean up. It’s a win-win situation, don’t you agree? Plus, you can make this amazing recipe for your family, and pat yourself on the back when they tell you how much they love it!
Ingredients in Kielbasa Fried Rice:
- Kielbasa Sausage
- Onion, peas, carrots
- garlic
- Sesame Oil
- Reduce Sodium Soy Sauce
- Sticky Rice
- Egg
Frozen Veggies vs. Fresh:
I have made this recipe with fresh carrots from the produce section, but most of the time I buy a bag of frozen peas and carrots. It makes it even quicker when you use them.
What type of Kielbasa to buy?
Kielbasa sausage has lots of options, too. You can buy the all beef sausage, the turkey, a lite version or the traditional Polska Kielbasa like I used here. The nice part is that it’s smoked already, so it’s cooked. You are truly just warming it up. So I sliced it while it was cold, and tossed it into the skillet to make this fried rice. It’s packed with flavor so it really adds to the tastiness of this meal.
Best Rice Option:
This recipe always turns out best with sticky rice. That is best achieved when you use “day old rice.” Next time you cook up some rice, make extra and set it aside to try this Kielbasa rice. I have a super duper top secret way to make this the most simple way possible though. Are you ready for this? Buy some rice from your local Chinese restaurant. Or, like I did the last time I made this, from HyVee’s Chinese take out counter. My grocery store has a Chinese take out section of their deli department. Locals here affectionately call it “Hy-Chi” — while you’re there, grab a couple of crab rangoon and fortune cookies to have with it!
Add sesame oil to your skillet and sauté your sliced kielbasa, onion and garlic for about 5 minutes.
Add in frozen carrots and peas. Sauté for 5 minutes.
Push the kielbasa and veggies to the side. Add in a little more sesame oil, and drop your eggs in.
Scramble the eggs there in the pan. When they are cooked, toss them with the veggies and meat.
Add in sticky rice and soy sauce mix in and heat through.
Serve it right out of the skillet, for a one pan meal that is satisfying and quick.

Recently I shared a recipe for Cauliflower Fried Rice. It is really delicious, and helps to lighten up the carbs, using cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. I think it would be great with the kielbasa added in!

Great recipe! Thanks!
Thank you for letting me know you liked it!
Super easy and delicious.
I am so happy you liked it!! It really is so easy, right??
I changed up a few things in this recipe, I used jasmine rice instead of white rice. I also subbed soy sauce with liquid aminos(which is a soy sauce alternative.) I added one extra egg but could probably have added two extra just because I really like eggs!
It was super delicious and so easy and quick to make.
This is now a regular is my household! Everyone loves it!
Your twist sounds amazing!! I am tickled you love the recipe! Thank you for taking the time to let me know!
I really love Kielbasa and fried rice. So of course I’m so into this recipe! And it’s colorful and pretty, to boot!

This easy skillet dinner is perfect for a busy weeknight meal! Love the flavors going on!
What a unique idea to add kielbasa to fried rice! Looks great!
This sounds like a winner. I too keep some type of sausage in the fridge for those days I need something really quick. Great idea to make Kielbasa Fried Rice.
What a great way to use up leftover rice. I’ve never tried kielbasa sausages. I’ll have to look out for them!
This looks so hearty and flavorful! Will be trying very soon!
This looks like such a great easy meal!
I’m all for 15 minute meals. I can’t wait to try this, it looks delicious.
What a great idea to add kielbasa to fried rice! Thanks! This looks delicious and you have inspired me for a quick delicious one pan dinner for tonight! 🙂
Great meals like this are what gets me through the weeknights. My whole family enjoyed this – and I loved how easy it was!
I’ve made this twice, and it turned out great both times! I made the rice in the Instant Pot while I chopped everything up. Easy and yummy recipe!
Good idea! Happy you like it!
Found this recipe by accident. Was looking for something different for kielbasa other then sauerkraut/periogies. I used regular soy sauce and jasmine rice. I didn’t have sesame oil, but had a stir fry oil in my pantry. Turned out good, but I feel it’s missing something. Maybe bacon fat? Will definitely make again. I will also use this recipe and substitute the kielbasa for pork or chicken. Thanks!
Happy you liked it! Try the sesame oil and see what you think! It’s SO GOOD in stir fry!
Absolutely delicious and easy to cook. Definitely on my go-to “what to cook” list.
I am so happy that you like it, Karin! We love this one, too!
How much is one serving? A cup? 3/4 cup?
Thanks
Hi, Chrystal – It’s been a long time since I wrote this recipe. I didn’t measure it in that manner at the time – looking at it now I would venture a guess of about 1/5 cups or so. It fed our family of 6 nicely. IF you make it, you can divide it into 6 portions? I am sorry it’s not more accuarate.
You updated it with measurements!!! Yay!! I winged it when I made it a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing but I’m the kind of gal that follows measurements exactly so imagine my stress when I find no measurements for anything in this recipe! Haha! I’m so happy I’ve got a better idea this time! Thank you!
Hi, Angel! There have always been measurements 😉 You may have just looked at the ingredient list and not gotten to that printable recipe card at the bottom? Either way, I am happy you circled back and that you like it! <3
Just made this exactly per recipe, and it’s perfect! So easy for busy/lazy evenings! Love this and will definitely be a keeper recipe! Thanks!
Happy that you found a recipe that you enjoy! Thank you for your feedback! 🙂
