Archer Farms Black & White Trail Mix
Archer Farms has loads of trail mixes. I could stand there for 10 minutes just browsing them all and their ingredients. Sweet, salty, even spicy flavors that would suit just about anyone. They make it super easy, don’t they? Perfect for lunchboxes, road trips, hiking … you name it.
I recently bought some of the Black & White Mix. It’s full of raisins and peanuts, some are plain, some are coated in chocolate or in yogurt.
As it turned out, the reason I bought it didn’t pan out, so I needed to do something with it. So my brain started ticking, and I tried to think of things that were black and white; newspapers, pandas, penguins, Dalmations, checkered flags, soccer balls, zebras, dice? Then I thought what about tuxedos? They are black and white — and it was perfect for my idea.
Rae Dunn Fanatic
If you have followed me over the last year, you may have heard me talk about my obsession with Rae Dunn. Rae Dunn is typically black and white ceramic items with words on them. But they aren’t always black and white — but they always have words. As I sit here writing this, my Rae Dunn coffee mug I am drinking out of is black and in white letters, it simply says “UGH.” It felt fitting when I woke up to sub-zero temps. Winter, I am over you.
I bought a few of these cute Rae Dunn Valentine Dog Bowls though, that have XOXO on them. I filled some with my Puppy Love Chow, which is a white chocolate and raspberry puppy chow or muddy buddy recipe, and I wanted to try something new. That was how this Tuxedo Muddy Buddy recipe came to be.
Puppy Chow/Muddy Buddies – Same/Same
I stood in my pantry and saw the things I needed to make a puppy chow recipe. Cereal: ✓ Chocolate: ✓ Powdered Sugar: ✓
Traditional Puppy Chow has peanut butter – but I didn’t want to go that route. I almost always prefer semi-sweet chocolate chips, but I had a selection, thanks to leftovers from the holidays. I had bittersweet, white, and milk chocolate. Any would have worked, but I went with the milk chocolate.
But what to mix in? I didn’t want anything “Valentine’s Day” as I knew there wasn’t a chance of me getting this recipe up by then. That’s when I saw the Black & Whites on the shelf. BINGO!
Ingredients in Tuxedo Muddy Buddies:
- Crispix Cereal
- Milk Chocolate Chips
- Powdered Sugar
- Black & White Trail Mix
You will find the full recipe in a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Begin by pouring melted chocolate over the Crispix cereal in a big bowl.
Carefully stir the cereal to coat it in chocolate. Don’t get too crazy stirring, you don’t want the cereal to be all crumbs!
Add Powdered sugar and stir to coat. Toss in Black & Whites. Give a stir. Spread out on a large baking sheet to let the chocolate set up for about an hour.
Wanna dig in? Me, too!
