Lean ground beef, smoky bacon, spicy jalapeño, sauerkraut and mozzarella cheese make up this delicious burger – think Jalapeño Popper meets Sauerkraut Burger, EPIC!
This is one of the best burgers we have ever sank our teeth into. The idea came to me when my son started bringing in jalapeños in from his garden. Typically I make a whole bunch of them into jalapeño poppers. You know the ones – jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and grilled to perfection? But, I had a hankering for something more. Remember those Kraut Stuffed Bacon Wrapped Brats I shared a couple of weeks back? I was thinking of making those again, but I didn’t have any brats. So I thought, what about a burger? And just like that, this epic Spicy Jalapeño Burger was born!
This post is sponsored by Frank’s Kraut, but my opinions and love of their delicious sauerkraut go way back to my childhood.
^^ LOVE IT? PIN IT! ^^
This particular night, my son and his girlfriend were over. We just had some nice weather settle in and it was perfect for patio sitting. It’s been super hot, and we got a little break. We settled in and he fired up the grill. These wouldn’t be boring burgers … no chance!! I mean, who wants a boring burger anyway?? I mean, sure, we have regular ‘ol burgers like everyone else … but when I make something a little “off the wall” they are always well received. Like my Italian Burgers I made this summer, these Green Chile Mushroom Burgers with Monterey Jack Cheese Sauce or these yummy Western Burgers! Of course, if I didn’t mention these other two burgers I have done for Frank’s in the past, I wouldn’t be a good friend.

Back to these Spicy Bacon Kraut Burgers … They were super easy to make, just required a little prep. It wasn’t necessary to even really dress them up, unless you wanted to, they had so much flavor all on their own.
What you’ll need to make these Spicy Bacon Kraut Burgers:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 jalapeños, minced
- 1/2 cup Frank’s Kraut, drained
- 8 slices of thick cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 4 slices Mozarella cheese
- 4 Brioche buns
Combine all of the ingredients, less the cheese and the buns and form 4 nice sized patties. I always make sure my patties are bigger than my buns because they will shrink. The more fat in your ground beef, the more they will shrink, too.
Pop them on the grill and grill them up to your liking.
When they are done, melt a piece of cheese over the top and place them on the bun.
Of course, no judgement if you add a little more kraut to the top. (wink-wink) Enjoy!!
Sauerkraut has been around for ages. The benefits of it’s nutrition are astounding! Many actors, supermodels, athletes and celebrity chefs have incorporated sauerkraut into their daily diets. Sauerkraut is a known immune booster, cancer fighter and aids in digestion. There are literally thousands of ways to use it. I, myself have used it in soups, salads. appetizers and even chocolate cake! Adding the kraut into the burger patty is such a great idea! Why didn’t I think of that? I love everything about this burger! Looks so delicious!!
This burger looks so good. I haven’t had kraut on a burger in ages, usually only hotdogs. Cannot wait to try making this at home. Thank you for sharing!
I hope you love it!
My local meat market makes their own patties in any way. I always get 85/15 and 1/3 pound patties. I sauted the jalapenos and kraut for 1-2 minutes, and just cooked bacon in strips, then topped the burger than put cheese on, they were very good, toasted buns as well.
Sounds yummy!!
