Chocolate Covered Strawberry Donuts
Baked Chocolate Covered Strawberry Donuts. I mean, do I have your attention now? I don’t know about you, but I have never met a chocolate-covered strawberry I didn’t like. Whenever I make them, I can’t keep my kids away from them long enough to fill the plate up for whatever function I am taking them to.
Chocolate Covered Donut
I imagined those favorite little chocolate-covered berries into these gorgeous donuts. It all started with one of my favorite cakes in the whole world! This Strawberry Cake. I got the recipe from my friend, Candi, who blogs over at The Devilish Dish. Her Grandmother Mary made this cake every Sunday for Sunday supper at her house when Candi was growing up. I made it a couple of years ago for Easter, and I have made it countless times since then.
It’s such a beautiful cake, and it’s seriously delicious. The cake starts with a box mix, you add in frozen strawberries and strawberry Jell-O. It’s frosted with strawberry frosting made also with frozen strawberries. It packs some serious strawberry punch and looks so pretty dressed up for Valentine’s Day.

How to make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Donuts
You’ll be surprised at how easy it is to make homemade donuts.
First: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray donut baking pans with non-stick cooking spray.
Second: In your mixer, combine all the dry and wet ingredients to make the donuts, except the strawberries, for 2 minutes.
Third: Mix in strawberries.
Fill donut pans just below the edge.
Fourth: Bake for 13 minutes.
Remove to a cooling rack.
Fifth: In a saucepan, mix chocolate chip and cream for your ganache with a wooden spoon. When it’s melty and smooth, remove from heat and whisk in rum or coffee until it’s shiny.
Sixth: Dunk donuts into ganache.
Dust the top of the donuts with sprinkles. Let the chocolate set in a cool place. ENJOY!!
Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for 3-4 days at room temperature. You can also freeze uneaten donuts for up to 3 months. I suggest flash freezing on a cookie sheet so they don’t stick together.
