Chocolate sugar cookies rolled in crystalized sugar and decorated with a candy kiss. What’s not to love?
Simple Chocolate Sugar Kisses
Have you ever found yourself needing to bake something quick? Whether you are invited somewhere last minute, an office potluck gets sprung on you, or maybe you just get a craving for something sweet and you need it stat. These chocolate kiss cookies are perfect!
They begin with a refrigerated sugar cookie dough, mix it up with some cocoa powder, then roll them in sugar. While they are warm, push a Hershey’s Kiss into the center and then let them cool.
The outcome is a soft and chewy chocolate cookie with a sparkling sugar cookie coating, that just begs to be eaten.
This post/recipe was created for #ChristmasCookiesWeek! I was sent samples and products by some of the sponsor companies but as always opinions are 100% mine.

Small Batch Chocolate Sugar Kiss Cookies
I love that this recipe only makes two dozen cookies. Like I mentioned before, it’s perfect for a craving – by they also make a wonderful hostess treat, wrapped in a pretty cellophane bag or tin.
But if you want to make lots of these chocolate cookies – it’s easy to multiply to whatever quantity you need. They are perfect for cookie exchanges, Christmas, Valentine’s Day or even Halloween. In fact, Halloween is where I got the idea to make these cookies!
I was making these Eye Love Chocolate Sugar Cookies, when the idea struck me to make these at Christmastime. Those cookies were the same cookie base, only two ingredients, but I skipped the rolling in the sugar, and pressed a big candy eyeball into the kiss to make a fun Halloween treat.
Kiss Cookies – A Holiday Tradition
My Homemade Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies are hands down a family favorite at Christmastime. I love them becuse they utilize one of my most favorite cookies of all times, My Mom’s Peanut Butter Cookies. They turn out perfectly everytime, and are always one of the first to disappear.
Just like those cookies, these chocolate sugar kiss cookies are easiely made ahead, and freeze really well, too. Because if you are like me, you do a TON of baking this time of year, and you need to start early with the recipes that freeze well.
Ingredients in Chocolate Sugar Kiss Cookies
Here are the Ingredients you will need to make these cookies: refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cocoa powder, sugar crystals and Hersey’s Kisses.
How to Make This Simple Cookie Recipe
First, add cookie dough and cocoa powder to a mixing bowl.
Mix it up!
Roll the cookie balls in sugar crystals. I love the clear ones, but multi-colored ones will also work.
Place them on the cookie sheet and bake them.
While they are still on the cookie sheet, press a kiss into the center, and after a couple of minutes, transfer them to a cooling rack.
Chocolate Stars also work well for this recipe.
Once cooled, transfer them to an airtight container to keep them fresh.
