In the time it takes for a pot of egg noodles to cook, you can have a delicious pot of chicken & noodles using these shortcuts. Gary’s Chicken & Noodles, comfort food in minutes.
Chicken & Noodles. Everything about it says comfort food, doesn’t it? Thick egg noodles, white chicken, carrots and peas in a rich chicken gravy. Typically when I see meals like this one, I think, “wow, that must have taken all day.” It’s a Sunday supper kind of meal, that you make when you have some extra time on your hands. Guess what? This meal took me less than 20 minutes to make, and unless you shared that little secret with your friends or family, they would have no idea.
This recipe was developed for and sponsored by Gary’s Quick Steak, but the love I feel for their products, and the information here is all my own.
^LOVE IT? PIN IT!^
Whenever I ask the question on social media “What was your favorite thing that you Mom made when you were growing up?” or “What food says comfort food to you?” the words Chicken & Noodles always come up. It’s one of those homemade, homestyle meals that reminds us of Mom.
When I was a kid, I loved making egg noodles with my mom. They really aren’t difficult to make, but the waiting for them to dry part takes a while. I remember my grandma even making them when they camped. Her and my grandpa loved to camp, and she never let that stop her when it came to making her fantastic meals.
These days, you can buy them in the freezer section, and make your life a whole lot easier!
Speaking of making your life easier, discovering Gary’s QuickSteak products has made my meal prep so much quicker. Recently, I shared my recipe for Philly Cheese Steak Soup with you. That recipe went CRAZY!
PHILLY CHEESE STEAK SOUP – This one pot Philly Cheese Steak Soup is going to be a new family favorite. Take that classic sandwich and serve it up as a rich and creamy soup in a bread bowl. Look at all of that melty cheese! (click the photo for the recipe)
We love the QuickSteak, but did you know they also have chicken? Gary’s QuickSteak Quick Release Chicken Breast Philly Steaks are a great alternative to the beef Philly cheese steaks. It is made from Chicken Breast meat with plus a 22% marination to enhance it’s natural flavors and add moisture. It makes great BBQ sandwiches, and cooks up so fast in a stir fry.
So, I got to thinking about that age old comfort food, Chicken & Noodles. Is there really a reason for it to cook all day long? Can you get the same outcome using simple short cuts, without sacrificing the flavor? I am thrilled to tell you, there is no reason you can’t have a comforting pot of Chicken and Noodles on a rushed weeknight! (or make it on a Sunday, and let the family think you slaved away in the kitchen all day, when really you just binge watched Netflix like Sundays were intended! )
What Ingredients do I need to make Gary’s 20 Minute Chicken & Noodles?
- Gary’s QuickSteak Chicken Philly Meat
- Frozen Peas and Carrots
- Frozen Egg Noodles
- Chicken stock
- Butter
- Celery seed, Salt & Pepper, Dried chopped onion
- Flour
Bring a pot of water to boil to prepare your frozen egg noodles.
While the egg noodles are cooking, prepare the Gary’s QuickSteak chicken in a dutch oven over medium high heat, chopping it into smaller pieces as it cooks. You won’t need the “WOW Seasoning Packet” for this recipe, but don’t throw it away, save it. It’s great sprinkled on french fries! When the chicken is cooked, toss in the butter, and when it melts, sprinkle the flour over the chicken, and stir to coat.
Stir in your chicken stock, dried onion, celery seed and frozen peas and carrots. Salt and pepper to taste. As you stir, the sauce will thicken into gravy in a matter of a few minutes.
At this point, your noodles are done. Reduce heat to medium under your gravy. Drain the noodles and pour them into the gravy pot. Stir to combine. Heat through and serve.
We love to serve meals like this with buttermilk biscuits.
Have you ever heard of the traditional Amish way of serving chicken and noodles? They take a scoop of that warming chicken & noodles and they spoon it right over the top of fluffy mashed potatoes! Talk about comforting carbs! I encourage you to try it this way, if you are looking to take comfort food to the next level.

They don’t sell Gary’s this far south or even at my northern goto in the summer place, Rochester, NY. Any other recommendations? Would love to try the recipes
Michaela Kenkel says
Carol – To make this chicken and noodles without the Gary’s – you could just slice chicken breast really thin and prepare the same way!
