I adore fried chicken, and sometimes my will power goes into shut down mode and the only thing that will curb my hankering is some KFC extra crispy! Most times I can quiet the little voice in my head with this delicious baked version — it turns out really good, every time! It has a perfect crunch to the outside and the chicken is nice and moist on the inside.
Serve it up with some Copy Cat KFC Cole Slaw and some mashed potatoes and the whole family will be happy!
Don’t second guess if your chicken is done or not. This Thermapen Mk4 is the best meat thermometer I have ever owned!

Done in just about an hour, you can even enjoy this on a weeknight, with no problem at all.
We love Chicken around here. Your “non fried” version looks so good. Pinned! 🙂
I love that you used bisquick for this! This is a perfect weeknight meal!
This recipe is so quick and easy.
I’ve been making it for my family ever since it was on the Bisquick box in the 1970s.
Today, I also add 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 TBsp. Ranch Dressing spices, and 4 TBsp. butter.
Baking it saves you having to stand over a skillet for an hour.
Healthier, too! I need to try it in my air fryer!
