The BEST Mushroom Swiss Burger
Whether you fire up the grill or the stovetop, this recipe transforms a juicy beef patty into the perfect burger. No matter what kind of mushroom mixture you use you’ll get a great burger. I like to cook up white button mushrooms and throw in a few portobello mushrooms but feel free to cook up a batch of whatever mushrooms you prefer.
Ingredients Needed To Make This Swiss Mushroom Burger Recipe
Find the complete recipe and instructions at the bottom of this post in the printable recipe card.
- Mushrooms – Sliced fresh mushrooms are best. You can use white mushrooms or baby Bella mushrooms.
- Butter – Salted or unsalted works in this recipe. If you use salted just adjust your salt accordingly.
- Sea salt – I prefer to cook with sea salt but table salt also works.
- Ground beef – I used lean ground beef but you can also use other ground meats or poultry.
- Salt and Black Pepper
- Swiss cheese – Pick up pre-cut cheese slices at the grocery store and make your life easier.
- Hamburger buns – Any kind of hamburger bun, toasted, will be perfect.
How To Make A Mushroom Swiss Burger
First: In a large cast iron skillet or any large skillet, over medium heat, melt the butter. Add in the garlic and mushrooms and saute until the mushrooms are tender and the edges are beginning to brown. When the mushrooms turn golden brown they are done.
Second: Sprinkle the mouthwatering mushrooms with sea salt and remove them from the pan and set them aside.
Third: Patty your burgers.
Season with salt and pepper.
Fry your burgers in the pan drippings or grill your burgers. Either way works as long as you end up with a juicy burger.
Fourth: Top the tender beef patties with a slice of Swiss cheese and sauteed mushrooms and warm until the cheese is melty.
Fifth: Serve atop your toasted burger bun.
Leftover burgers can be kept in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight and then reheat in the toaster oven, microwave, or regular oven.
