But today … today we are talking about the magic I worked on the Taco Salad.  I’ll admit, most times when I make tacos, I buy the seasoning packet at the store and make my life easier.  Every once in a while though, I either choose to use my old taco seasoning recipe because I have extra time, or I have forgotten to pick up a packet.

It’s not hard to make, and I bet you have these common taco seasoning spices on hand in your cupboard right now.  What I did for this recipe though?  Instead of just simmering the ground beef and spices in water, I used Dorothy Lynch! It gave it a whole new dimension of flavor.   It has a tomato base, and its light and tangy flavor gave the taco meat such a great taste.

Here the taco meat is all simmered together.  Ready for the salad, but not before we make our homemade Dorothy Lynch Taco Sauce!!

You’re asking me — why are you turning a condiment into a condiment?  Well, my friend, did you happen to lay eyes on the last Dorothy Lynch post I made?  I made my own barbecue sauce from Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing & Condiment, and man oh man– was it GOOD!! Dorothy’s BBQ Pork Chops have been a hit at our house ever since!

Of course, my Sloppy Dorothy Sandwiches became one of my top ten recipes in less than a month.  That is saying a lot — did you know I have over 500 recipes on my site?  They are so good, and will take the place of your favorite Sloppy Joe recipe, promise!

Making Homemade Dorothy Lynch Taco Sauce

So, when it came time to make a taco salad, I knew exactly what I would do.  I whisked all of those taco spices into the Dorothy Lynch and this sauce was incredible! My son and his girlfriend are hooked.  They are even using it to marinade chicken breasts before they cook them on their grill.

Air Fryer Taco Salad Bowls

But before I could call this salad complete, I wanted to try something I have been wanting to for a while.  I have a bit of a love affair with my air fryer right now (and it’s not just because I can make pizza rolls in 6 minutes.  LOL!!)  I decided I wanted to try and make taco salad bowls in my air fryer!

Success!! It took me a couple of tries, but I got it figured out.  With a burrito-sized tortilla you can make an edible Taco Bowl in your air fryer!  Of course, it isn’t mandatory — but it sure is good!

You can make the bowls ahead of time, or just make them as you’re preparing the sauce and the meat.  The rest is just a little light chopping of your toppings. You can have dinner for four on the table in a little over 30 minutes.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing & Condiment, let me share with you just what it is, and how it came to be.

Dorothy Lynch got its start in the 1940’s at the Legion Club in St. Paul, Nebraska.  Dorothy made her homemade dressing for the restaurant, and people fell in love with it.  They even brought in their own bottles to have them filled with this delicious dressing.  These days, the famed dressing is made in a 64,000 square foot plant in Duncan, Nebraska, population 351.   Dorothy Lynch is available in Home Style and Light & Lean. Dorothy Lynch contains no MSG, cholesterol, or trans fats and is gluten free.

Misconceptions about Dorothy Lynch Salad Dressing & Condiment:

Because of its color, people may think it would taste like French dressing.  Not true.  Where most French dressings have an oil base, Dorothy Lynch has a tomato base.  It’s thick and creamy and has a sweet & spicy flavor that everyone can enjoy.  It simply tastes homemade.  If you’re from Nebraska, like me, it tastes like home.
