Bloody Mary Burger with garnish on grey platter

Have you ever been to one of those bars that have those loaded Bloody Marys?  The ones that come with the whole meal skewered to the top?

This burger is kinda like the opposite of that.  Think of a Bloody Mary inside a burger.  Well, and on top of it, inside of that Bloody Mary Aïoli it’s slathered in.  That stuff in itself is a reason to make the burger.  The leftovers made a great dipping sauce for my Homemade Double Fried French Fries!

What’s Aïoli?

Traditionally, Aioli is a creamy garlic sauce made with egg yolks, lemon juice, and olive oil, using a mortar and pestle.  These days, it’s common to use mayonnaise as a short cut.  Many different versions are made, and from what I have noticed, often times they are pretty spicy.

It’s great on sandwiches, and delicious as a dipping sauce for seafood, too.  But I thought, “what about a Bloody Mary Aïoli to top of this already delicious Bloody Mary Burger?”  The idea was born.

What’s in Bloody Mary Aïoli?

  • mayonnaise
  • garlic
  • celery seed, cayenne pepper, parsley
  • bloody Mary mix
  • vodka
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • tabasco sauce

Put everything in a bowl, then, using your emulsion blender, combine until it’s smooth.

Put it in the fridge until you are ready to serve it.

Make sure you get plenty of that aïoli on your Bloody Mary Burger!!

How about those burgers though?  What can we do to get them bursting with Bloody Mary flavor?  I added a lot of the components of the cocktail into the burger, but I think adding that extra bit of bloody Mary mix, really helped the burger and the sauce.

What is your favorite Bloody Mary mix?  We are Zing Zang fans in our house!  We love that extra punch of spice.

What’s in a Bloody Mary Burger?

  • lean ground beef
  • minced onion
  • salt & pepper
  • cayenne pepper, parsley
  • tabasco sauce
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • bloody Mary mix
  • seasoned bread crumbs

Mix everything together, and form 4 patties.

Bloody Mary Burgers on the grill

We grilled them on the Traeger Smoker grill.  They were done (internal temperature of 160 degrees F) in about 9 minutes on each side.  Our smoker was set to 375 degrees.

Of course they needed a skewer of yumminess on the top.  Switch it up if you like, but I used a hand-stuffed bleu cheese olive, a slice of pepperoni, a chunk of celery, a cube of pepper jack cheese, a dill pickle and a hunk of thick bacon.  I added some ripe tomatoes to the buttery toasted bun, and stacked the burger on top.

Added the Bloody Mary Aïoli, and the top bun.  Topped it off with the skewer and it was time to dig in!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 Tablespoon minced onion
  • 1/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tablespoon seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 2 Tablespoon Bloody Mary mix I use Zing Zang
  • sprinkle of cayenne pepper
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • sprinkle of cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley
  • 1 Tablespoon bloody Mary mix
  • 1 teaspoon vodka
  • 5 drops of Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 drops of Tabasco sauce
  • sliced tomatoes and hamburger buns or serving

Instructions

  • For the burgers, Mix together ground beef, onion, 1/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce, 1/2 Teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, 1 teaspoon parsley, 2 Tablespoons bloody Mary mix, cayenne pepper and salt & pepper in a bowl. Form into 4 patties.
  • Prepare the mayo by mixing together the mayo, celery seed, garlic, cayenne pepper, 1/2 teaspoon parsley, 1 Tablespoon bloody Mary mix, 1 teaspoon vodka, 5 drops Worcestershire sauce and 3 drops Tabasco sauce with an emulsion blender until smooth. Place in the fridge until ready to use.
  • Set grill to 375 degrees F. Place patties on the grill and grill them for about 9 minutes. Flip them over and grill for another 8-9 minutes more, or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees F.
  • I like to butter the insides of my burger buns, and toast them in a skillet before serving. Feel free to skip this option if you desire.
  • Place the tomatoes on the bottom bun, top with a burger, then the aïoli. Serve.

Notes

If you want to make them look even more awesome, top with a skewer of things like olives, pickles, celery, bacon, pepperoni and cheese.
