Ah…. Summertime and the livin’ is easy….
Years and years ago a friend made these for a summertime party, and they were SO DARN GOOD, we make them every summer, at least once! They are nice to just have in the freezer for anytime you just want to have a cool relaxing summer cocktail. Beware though….they can sneak up on you!

This is actually a recipe re-do if you followed this old picture here, from somewhere, I originally posted these Vodka Slushes in June of 2011.
Here is a photo of Jill, our friend Rhonda and I at a Husker game a couple of years ago.
One of my favorite parts about making these, (next to drinking them!) is reading Jill’s recipe, which I will share with you in just a moment.
I just wonder how many of you keep those favorite classic recipes that you have written on that tattered old recipe card or note paper that they were written on? Some of my favorite recipes I make are the ones that are in my Grandma’s handwriting.
On to making vodka slushes….
Ingredients in Frozen Vodka Slush:
Frozen orange juice
Frozen Lemonade
Sugar
Water
Vodka
Lemon Lime soda for serving
When I make them I always freeze them in an empty ice cream container. If you don’t have one, any sort of air tight container with a lid will work.
Jill’s recipe reads “1 1/2 – 2 cups of vodka – of course I always use a little more!! 😉 ” I can always hear her tell me that in my head when I read it. Jill is so funny, and she loves to have a good time! So, just for her, I always add a little extra “splash” into mine.
Just a warning, the more Vodka you use, the harder it gets to freeze the slush solid. So don’t get too carried away!
When the slush is frozen, you simply scoop it out into a glass, and top it with lemon lime soda, like 7-Up. I have also used ginger ale, and more recently lime La Croix, so it’s not quite as sweet.
It’s also pretty to freeze some berries into the mixture. Or top the glasses with them!

Of course, they are perfect just the way they are. Stick an umbrella in, lay back and relax.
The new pictures I took of these frozen vodka cocktails is better than the original, but I wish Mother Nature would have cooperated and gave me a little blue sky back there! Oh well, they still tasted amazing – sun out or not!

Ingredients
2Large Cans of Frozen Orange Juice
2Small Cans of Frozen Lemonade
1/2Cupof Sugar
6Large Cans of Water
1 1/2-2Cupsof Vodka"of course I use a little more ?" Jill says…
Instructions
Combine ingredients in a freezable container with a lid.
Place in freezer for one day.
Scoop into a glass and pour 7Up over the top to serve.
Notes
We always use an ice cream container. Works perfect for freezing. Just a warning, the more Vodka, the less likely it will freeze as solid.I have also used ginger ale and lime La Croix to serve.

Oh wow I live in Florida and now is super hot I need a vodka slushy right now, maybe it is five o’clock for happy hour? Making this recipe tomorrow as I have a party at home my guests will be thrilled to taste a new libation.
this recipe is rather vague – does the juice and lemonade need to be pre-frozen?
can you please advise how many mls of lemonade, juice and water is needed?

Frozen concentrate juice only comes in two sizes, there is a small can and a big can. Defrost it some, it’s easy to mix it all together once you add the water and the vodka. Let me know if you have any other questions.
You use the can from the frozen juice concentrate.
Hi was wondering if I could make this in a big blender ? Would u still need to add water since you would be blending the ice in it and will the sprite go flat if u mix it in the big blender
So a couple of things with that idea. It makes a really BIG batch. We always mix it up in an ice cream bucket. Freezing it and scooping it out before pouring the Sprite over it makes it into a slushy. If you blended the ingredients I think you’d have more of a “smoothie” type consistency. And yes, the Sprite would get flat in the blender – but if you did it that way, I don’t think you’d need it. I hope that helps.

Do you think it would work to sub limoncello for half of the alcohol? I have about 3/4 cup left in a bottle I’d like to use up, lol.
