The BEST White Chocolate Peppermint Fudge

White chocolate peppermint fudge is the sort of holiday treat that makes you want to go caroling. The moment you taste it, you pretty much want to start singing. Yes, it tastes that good. For many, baking is one of those things that being in a good mood makes even better.

But baking for the holidays can sometimes be stressful. But with this white chocolate marshmallow fudge recipe in your possession, you have no reason to fret!

white chocolate peppermint fudge with mini marshmallows

Melting mini marshmallows with your favorite white chocolate pieces is the path of least resistance to great fudge. All you do is mix the ingredients together, in a saucepan, melting and heating until it reaches 234 degrees F. (Just shy of the 235 degree “soft ball” stage.)  Then pour, cool, and serve. Using mini marshmallows makes the melting part go even quicker, but if you have the big ones handy, then they work too, maybe just cut them in half.

How to make white chocolate peppermint fudge

Peppermint fudge is super simple to make, and it makes a great gift, too! If you like making a variety of treats to gift friends and family, then this is a winner. It looks great in the cookie tin or in a cellophane bag tied with ribbon.  I mean, everyone loves fudge, right?

Gather your ingredients: sugar, evaporated milk, butter, white chocolate chips or bar broken into pieces, miniature marshmallows, vanilla and peppermint extract and crushed peppermint candy canes.

In a saucepan over medium heat, gradually bring sugar, evaporated milk and butter to a boil. When it reaches 234 degrees F, remove from heat.

Stir in the remaining ingredients, with the exception of the candy canes, stirring until marshmallows and chocolate have
melted.

Spread into the prepared baking dish, and sprinkle with candy canes, gently pressing them into the fudge. Cool completely before cutting into pieces.

The “white chocolate”  for white peppermint fudge

White chocolate isn’t really chocolate. Yes, it is called “white chocolate” but since it doesn’t contain cocoa solids it isn’t really chocolate. That is all well and good, but at the end of the day, what matters most?

Taste of course! White chocolate does contain cocoa butter, which is essentially a fat with not much flavor. The flavor actually comes primarily from the slightly caramelized evaporated milk.

But if you are truly craving real chocolate, then this is a super easy recipe to switch out the white chocolate chips with your favorite chocolate chips.

Storing White chocolate fudge with peppermint

One thing to keep in mind, with peppermint, anything you store your fudge with will pick up some of the mint flavor. So you should always keep it separate from everything. Unless of course, you love mint. Then no worries, all good.

But if you do need to package it up with other non-peppermint items like Sugar Cookies, Shortbread, or anything like that, then just make sure to wrap it in plastic wrap. It will work in the short term. But long term, that mint will permeate even the plastic wrap. Just keep that in mind if you are preparing tins filled with treats for the holidays.
