Howdy! I’m Debi from Life Currents! When Michaela from An Affair from the Heart asked me to guest post for her blog I was really excited. I love all the awesome recipes she shares, and she’s a super sweet girl. Besides that, we both share a love of Mexican food!

So, I knew I had to do a Mexican influenced recipe for her. We also share a love of cocktails. So, what could be better than a Watermelon Agua Fresca for her! Well, maybe a kid-friendly version and a spiked version! Perfect, a little Mexican influence, a little spiked!

This Watermelon Agua Fresca is a nice light refreshing summer drink. Make up a big batch and keep it in the fridge for those hot summer days when you don’t want to do anything except sit around. Or, take a pitcher to the next pool party you head off to. Your friends will love sipping this summer beverage poolside.

Then, after the kids get tired and head off to bed, you can spike it with a little white rum and triple sec. It’s still nice and light for the summer evenings. Maybe you’re relaxing on the porch with your favorite person sipping some Spiked Watermelon Agua Fresca. I love those long days of summer when the people we love are the most important things in our day. Ahhh.

  1. I make this by freezing part of the watermelon and using club soda instead of water and ice cubes. Makes a nice slushy drink.

  2. I am making this for a party so do you what the measurements are for a pitcher? If not I can do some test sampling. But my real question is could I include mint in this recipe?

    1. I think that mint would be a yummy addition. I would venture to guess one serving is maybe about 8 ounces? So I would double the recipe for a one quart pitcher and see how that works? I would love to hear how the mint is!
