Super easy recipe for Chicken (or Turkey) Ala King – using left over meat and frozen veggies.
Chicken Ala King has always been one of my favorites, I just have never seemed to get the knack of making it for some reason?
That, of course, was until now.
This recipe comes from my September Secret Recipe Club assigned blog, 2 Cookin’ Mamas. Linda and Christina are a mother/daughter team, cooking up delicious and healthy family friendly meals. How fun is that?! You will find a wide array of recipes, from the healthy side to indulgent desserts. (life is too short not to have dessert, right?)
Speaking of dessert … this Chocolate Kahlua Cheesecake was seriously calling my name when I was browsing their site. Alas, I have been sharing quite a bit of sweet things with you lately. I decided to browse the section of Main Dish recipes. I had it down to their Double Cheeseburger Pizza, Thai Beef with Carrot Basil Salad, or Chicken Ala King.
It had been quite the week around here. Last Monday we had to have our 15 year old Westie put to sleep. We had a deposit down on a new puppy for about 5 weeks, and she was to be picked up on Friday. Our other dog, was kind of in that “what that heck is going on?” mode. I decided to go with the Chicken Ala King recipe, based on the fact that I had everything to make it at home and I didn’t have to go anywhere. With the amount of sleep I am getting, this made all of the sense in the world!
Serve Chicken (or Turkey) Ala King over biscuits, pasta or even a baked potato!

Mmmmm. I have never made chicken a la king but I have certainly enjoyed it! I think I must venture forth…. And, I have to make the biscuits to go with it!
Comforting meal for sure!
Firstly – I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your furry family member…
On the topic of the chicken a la king – my mom makes a great one and look exactly like the one that you posted about – so it definitely had me drooling! (And over baked potatoes??? GREAT idea!)
Great SRC choice!
Thank you, Maxine ❤️
So sorry for your loss. Congratulations on the new addition. I think that serving this in the popovers would make them elegant enough for guests.
I’m sure my family would love this, we had similar tonight with tuna, cheese and celery soup:-)
Ah, so sorry to hear about your pet. They are so much a part of the family it is always sad to see them go. On the other hand, I am so glad you liked the recipe. It has been a standard in our family for many years and always gets pulled out when the weather turns cooler. Love your idea of putting it over a baked potato but I have to vote for those delicious looking popovers! Yum!
Looks delicious!
Sorry for your loss.
This dish sounds delish.
I can’t find chicken bouillon granules in my area, only powdered or cubes. Would I still use the same amount listed in the recipe when substituting one of these?
One cube is equivalent to a teaspoon- so use two 🙂
Yum!!!!! This looks amazing!!
So happy I found your recipe, looks just like what my mom used to make.
Comments like these make my day!! Happy you love it!
