Every summer, the first week in July we take our family to Okoboji, Iowa and spend the week boating.
My kids, and hubby love to ski and wake board, and it’s such a fantastic family environment. Lots to do, lots to see, and always a good place to eat when you feel like you have had enough of the sandwiches in the picnic basket for lunch.
One day, we stopped at one of our favorites, a restaurant called Bracco.
How fun is this bar at Bracco? Swings instead of bar stools!! Here are my kiddos posing for a photo!
They have amazing shrimp tacos, and I couldn’t wait. When the waitress came over we gave her our drink order and I ordered a Key Lime Fizz. I loved it!!
When we came home my husband and I went on a mission to find Key Lime Rum. I am here to tell you it’s not as easy as one would think. There are so many flavors of rum, they I am sure the stores can’t carry them all. I found it, though, at a local liquor store.
These Key Lime Fizz drinks are light and refreshing, and if you make them with Sprite Zero or a diet 7Up they are low in calories.
Want to make it just like this? stop by your local Sonic for a bag of ice!! I LOVE their ice, and it’s great with this drink!
- Lemon-Lime Soda (7Up, Sprite, Sierra Mist - "zero" or diet work, too)
- 1 1/2 shots of Key Lime Rum (depending on the size of your glass)
- 1/2 lime, cut in 2 sections, one for the drink and one for the garnish
Fill a glass with ice. I love to keep a bag of the Sonic crushed in my freezer.
Squeeze in one section of your lime, and drop in the glass.
Pour in rum.
Top with soda, and stir.
Garnish with other lime wedge.
Sip and enjoy!
