Banana-Berry Green Tea Smoothie

You know what they say, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Well, how many of us skip it because we just don’t have time?  We are rushing around, trying to get out the door to work, or take kids to school, only to look at your watch at 10:30 and think “where did my morning go?” and figure you will just move on to lunch.  Of course, by then, you are starving, and don’t always make decent choices.

Green Tea Smoothie

Lipton’s new black and herbal varieties and improved green teas refresh the tea experience with bold and stimulating flavors, such as Pure Green Tea, Amazing Grey and Herbal Berry Hibiscus.

I began 2016 with a new breakfast option.  Smoothies.  I will tell you, that I never used to be much of a smoothie person.  I had the “it’s not eating if you aren’t chewing,” mentality.  I have since become a lover of them.  I think that part of my problem was that I was simply just doing it wrong.  The calories and non-sense were building up, as I was dumping stuff into the blender, not knowing just how simple and satisfying a good smoothie can be.  Then one day, instead of just adding water or milk, I added some brewed green tea.

Game changer.

Now, not only am I drinking my breakfast, in my car, while rushing from commitment to commitment, my breakfast is full of antioxidants, fiber, and flavor, it is boosting my metabolism and increasing my brain function, and quite possibly even lowering my risks of getting some types of cancer.

Whhaaaat…???  Yes, my friends, I have done my research.

Green Tea Smoothie

In my research I have found that Green tea (can) help with fat loss, boost metabolism,  improve brain function and even lower the risks some some types of cancers.  I don’t know about you, but as a busy mom of four, of a “certain age” these are all benefits I can totally get behind.

Mix green tea into a smoothie with berries and bananas and you add in benefits like Vitamin C, Vitamin K, high fiber and potassium. It also works as an anti-inflammatory and (can) help with high blood pressure,  just to name a few!

  4. Thank you sooooo very much for sharing this smoothie recipe!!! I have been struggling with jumping on the smoothie bandwagon as I always felt that adding the protein powders and/or the milk alternatives would add unnecessary calories and ingredients, and all I really wanted were the health benefits…antioxidants, vitamins, metabolism boosters…and if there is a possibility something might fend off cancer…I am all for it!!! I can’t wait to try this recipe this weekend. My aging parents are coming to town and I want to share this with them as I am always trying to encourage them nutritionally. So excited…thanks again!
