Open Faced Pizza Burgers

An Open-Faced Pizza Burger is an English muffin topped with a ground beef pizza sauce mixture full of gooey cheesy goodness, baked up, and served open-faced.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 small onion chopped (approximately 1/2 cup)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt & Pepper to taste go easy on the salt, because the cheese makes it salty, too!
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese shredded
  • 8 ounces Mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/4 cup fresh Parmesan cheese shredded or grated
  • 1 15 ounce can pizza sauce
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 6 English muffins cut in half

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or a Silpat mat.
  • Brown ground beef together with onion, garlic and onion powders. Salt & pepper to taste.
  • Cut English muffins in half horizontally, and place them inside up on a cookie sheet.
  • Pre-bake muffins for 5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, remove ground beef from heat and stir cheese, pizza sauce and oregano.
  • Divide evenly and top each of the 12 muffins.
  • Bake for 15 minutes, or until hot and cheese is melted.
