Spicy Smoked Almonds

These almonds have a spicy smoky flavor all done with the perfect concoction of spices. Grab a handful for the perfect snack, make them for your next get together and watch them disappear!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound almonds
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Spanish style smoked paprika
  • 1/2 Tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin seed
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 Tablespoon water
  • 3 dashes Tobasco sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with a Silpat mat or parchment paper.
  • Combine dry ingredients (minus almonds) in a bowl. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together water and egg white. Add in Worcestershire sauce and tobasco, stir to combine. Add in dry mixture and stir to incorporate.
  • Add in almonds. Stir to make sure they are evenly coated.
  • Spread onto prepared cookie sheet in an even layer.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Turn almonds over. Reduce heat to 275 degrees and bake for 45 minutes more.
  • Cool completely and transfer to an airtight container.
