Homemade Au Jus (without drippings)

Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • 1 Tablespoon flour
  • 1 ¼ cups beef stock
  • ½ Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Sprinkle onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
  • Whisk in the flour until there are no lumps forming a roux.
  • Whisk half of the beef stock into the roux, continuing to whisk until the sauce begins to thicken. 
  • Add in the Worcestershire sauce and the remaining stock. 
  • Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. 
  • Season to taste.

Notes

If you have meat drippings drain any excess grease from them and add them into this recipe when you add in the remaining stock and Worcestershire sauce.
To deepen the flavors, add a few drops of Kitchen Bouquet to taste.
