The farmers markets and farm stands are one of my favorite places right now! They are just brimming with so many delicious fruits and vegetables, and they are all so ripe and ready to be made into something magnificent!  A couple of weekends ago, I stopped and bought tomatoes, corn and melons, then I was stopped dead in my tracks when I walked by the Georgia peaches!!

Just the aroma had me mindlessly filling up a bag.  Around the corner, strawberries, raspberries and cherries.  I think the only fruit in this Summer Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Poppyseed Dressing that didn’t come from that stand were the grapes and the lime!

Freaky Friday Summertime 2019 banner

It’s time, once again, for our Freaky Friday Bloghop!  What’s that?  Well, if you are new here, it’s a group that I host, once per season.  A bunch of my food blogger friends secretly cook/bake from another blog they were assigned, and we all reveal our recipes at the same time on one Freaky Friday morning.  That is TODAY!

I was super excited to get the chance to dive into the blog House of Nash Eats, by none other than Amy Nash herself! I got to meet Amy a couple of months ago at a conference in Utah.  She is as sweet as she is adorable, and that doesn’t even begin to talk about her amazing skills in the kitchen!

House of Nash Eats Blog:

Amy and her husband are avid travelers.  They have two adorable little girls, and they have become Amy’s kitchen helpers.  Amy has lived all over the place in her lifetime, and one place was right here in Nebraska!  She has wonderful family recipes, and recipes from all over the globe that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.  Worst part about Amy’s blog? Trying to make up your mind on what to make first!

I actually made two of her recipes.  Her Tomato Pie and this Summer Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Poppyseed Dressing.  We ate them within a day of each other, and can I just tell you that didn’t help me decide?  They were both fantastic.  Both perfect for summer.  So, I decided that I would post them both for you.  Today the fruit salad and next week I will share the Tomato Pie, when I host “Tomato Week” on my blog and social media channels.  Stay tuned for that!

I promise I won’t be stopping there! Next up, I can’t wait to make Amy’s Navajo Tacos! They are a serious weakness of mine, and I have yet to try them at home.  Her Homemade Marshmallow Sauce is calling to me, and I have already pinned her recipe for Leftover Turkey Creamy Wild Rice Soup, so I can find it after Thanksgiving!

You’re going to want to run, not walk over to her blog and see all of the delicious recipes she has.  But first, let me tell you a little more about this summer fruit salad!

Summer Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Poppy Seed Dressing - An Affair from the Heart

^ Love it?  Pin it! ^

I used almost all of the same fruits as Amy, only changing it up a little bit with the amounts, and I didn’t add any banana.  That’s the beauty about a salad like this one, you can make it your own so easily.  We had this one Sunday with Barbecued chicken, roasted rosemary potatoes and cornbread drop biscuits.  My kids flipped over it! The dressing is absolutely perfect with the summer fruits.

Honey Lime Poppy Seed Dressing

Honey Lime Poppyseed Dressing is simply made by whisking together raw honey, fresh squeezed lime juice, poppyseeds and lime zest.  I made it first and popped it in the fridge while I cut up all of the fruit for the salad.

Ingredients in Summer Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Poppyseed Dressing

  • Strawberries
  • Raspberries
  • Blueberries
  • Peaches
  • Cherries
  • Red Grapes
  • Lime
  • Poppyseeds
  • Honey

Other additions to this may include things like plums, nectarines, apricots, mangoes and blackberries.  If adding other fruits use the same amounts as directed in the recipe, so you have enough dressing.

Cut your fruit up however you desire.  You can slice the peaches or cut them into chunks like I did here.  I halved the grapes and the cherries, too.  The strawberries I cut into quarters.

Place all of the fruit in a big bowl and top with the dressing.

I added a little extra lime zest to the top of my salad, and stirred it right in before I served it.  I refrigerated the salad for about an hour before we ate it.  Not a necessary step. Just personal preference.
